3 Ways To Prepare For A New Animated LED Sign Installation On Your Business Building

Blog

Years ago, signs were made of basic materials and lighting to give a business building a unique look. However, thanks to the advancements in lighting technology, signs are far more than just a fixated piece on the outside of a building. Animated LED signs make it possible to not just display your business name, but change messages on the sign however you see fit with a controller inside of the building. If you are having an animated LED sign installed on your business building, there will be a few things you need to do to get prepared.

Schedule the sign installation for after closing or when customer flow is at its lowest.

Even though usually installing a sign on the outside of a business would not interfere with inside customers, an automated LED sign will involve a little more effort and work that must be done inside of the building because of the electrical wiring required. Because of this, it is a good idea to make sure you schedule the sign installation for a time when your business traffic is at its lowest. If it is possible to have the sign installed after hours, this will be the best route to take.

Clear the ground area below where the sign will be placed.

The contractor who will be installing your new automated LED sign will need space to place a ladder, scissor lift, or scaffolding so they can effectively get the sign in place. Therefore, make sure you clear the area around the outside of your business on the ground just below where the sign will be placed. Remove any outdoor display shelving, merchandise, and other signage so the sign installer can gain easy access to the area without worrying about having to move things or damage product.

Pick a designated spot for your sign controller.

Automated LED signs have to be connected to a controller that you use to input messages and graphics as you want them to be changed. In some cases, these signs are controlled wirelessly through the internet with a simple software program you download on an existing computer. Either way, it is a good idea to keep the controlling computer or included controller in a designated place in your place of business, whether it is in the back office or in an area where employees can access it. Your chosen contractor will set up the system for you and show you how to operate it, so having a space picked out will be important.

Never Underestimate the Importance of Good Business Signs

When I started my first business, I had taken a few business classes in college, but I still had a lot to learn. I had a good product to sell, but at first, sales were very slow. I wasn't sure just how to drum up business, and I didn't have money left in my budget to invest in a big marketing campaign. I was very lucky that local marketing professional stopped into my business, and although I couldn't afford to hire him, he did give me one free important tip: invest in better signage! Since signs are relatively affordable, I took his advice and traded in my old banner for a quality professionally designed sign. Foot traffic and sales increased rapidly. I learned a lot during the sign design process that I want to share on my new blog to help other small business owners out there who are struggling!
